What is Pride in Place?

Pride in Place.png

The Pride in Place Programme is a UK government regeneration initiative committing up to £5.8 billion across nearly 284 disadvantaged communities. Selected areas receive up to £20 million over 10 years, directed by local Neighbourhood Boards to improve high streets, green spaces, and civic infrastructure.

With Pride in Place, residents, businesses, and community groups will deliver real improvements that matter to local people. This is led by local people and backed by the UK government.

Stronger Communities

Rebuilding local social fabric, trust, and cooperative networks.

Core Objectives

Thriving Places

Revitalising high streets, fixing public spaces, and supporting local facilities.

Taking Back Control

Shifting long-term decision-making power directly to local residents.

Pride in Place: Who decides where the funding goes?

The Pride in Place Programme gives power to local people and partnerships, bringing together residents, the local MP, the council, businesses and community organisations to decide how they would like to shape their area.

You can see what will be funded and how decisions are reached. You can also have your say, and we will show how that feedback is considered in our decisions.

St Ann’s East

In St Ann’s East, the programme will bring residents, community organisations, local groups and partners together to identify local priorities and turn ideas into action.

A Neighbourhood Board of local residents that decides on spending based on wider community input has been set up, and key hubs have now been identified.

10 YEAR PROGRAMME • 1 OF 284 NEIGHBOURHOODS • RESIDENT-LED BOARD • £5.8BN INVESTED ACROSS THE UK • UP TO £20M FOR ST ANN’S EAST •

The programme

Pride in Place

Pride in Place is the government’s £5.8 billion, ten-year programme investing in 284 neighbourhoods across the UK. St Ann’s East is one of them, with up to £20 million to spend on what matters most to the people who live here.

Who decides

A Resident-Led Board

Decisions are made locally by the St Ann’s East Pride in Place Board. More than half of its members live or work in the neighbourhood, and it sits alongside our MP and ward councillors under an independent Chair.

The plan

A Ten-Year Vision

The Board is co-creating a Pride in Place Plan with the community: a ten-year vision for the area, built through deep, broad and sustained engagement with residents, with a focus on those least likely to be heard.

Beyond the Postcard View

Three Aims of the Programme

Stronger Communities

Bringing people together and rebuilding the places and activities that make a neighbourhood feel like home – community spaces, local groups, events and support that reach the people least likely to be heard.

Thriving Places

Investing in the fabric of St Ann’s East – high streets, parks, green spaces and local facilities – so the area is safer, better looked after and somewhere people are proud to live.

Taking Back Control

Putting decisions about the neighbourhood in local hands. A resident-led Board decides how the funding is spent, communities gain new powers to take on local spaces, and the programme moves to a fully community-led model within its first three years.
